Hunter X Hunter

Watching the new remake of Hunter X Hunter (2011) reminded me why I loved the manga so much. It’s full of energy and dark twist, new world waiting to be discovered with dangerous creatures to be found. Hunter X Hunter influenced me greatly and I’ve always, for the past 8 years, wanted to write a homage story to it. I’ve span so many variations of that homage story I couldn’t remember all of them, but even now I still keep the oldest ones and read it sometimes. It’s not an exaggeration to say that HxH is one of the strongest core in myself, as a manga fan and as a writer-wannabe. Which is why I couldn’t bear to read the Ant arc. Something bad happened to Togashi and it nearly ruined his manga, I don’t know anything about Togashi so I don’t want to spectacular or get mad at him, but some of the chapters in that arc look like they came straight out of his sketch book. When they didn’t even use assistants to keep the art quality to some extent, I doubt Togashi is really ready to write a good story. I’ve put HxH on hold for a long time, and I don’t think I want to pick it up anytime soon, not until Togashi’s back and know what he’s doing to his dear manga.

That aside, I really like the first episode of this remake, they’re better then the original overall and give off the same feel with the manga. There is this complaint that I couldn’t pass though: Mito’s seiyuu is HORRIBLE! The girl is supposed to be in her 20s but she sounds like an old woman, really made me wonder if they didn’t mix up her role with the elder that talked with her. Anyway I’ll follow this anime and hope they continue to do a good job of it.
